Bollard covers

A bollard cover is a plastic sleeve that slides over an existing steel post. It ends repainting, hides rust and makes the post easy to see. The only trick is ordering the right size.

How to measure

  1. Measure the outside diameter of the post, not the pipe size. A “6 in” pipe bollard is usually about 6⅝ in outside (Reliance Foundry’s 6 in pipe bollard is 6⅝ in).
  2. Measure the height above grade, then pick the cover height that covers it (a little taller is fine; the dome sits on top).
  3. Count every post, including the ones you don’t think need it: a mixed row looks worse than an old one.

Installing

Post Guard’s instructions: centre the two foam strips that come with the cover over the bollard and slide the cover down. No tools; a cover can be swapped in a minute when it’s scuffed.

Questions

Do bollard covers fit square posts?

Round covers need round posts. For square or very large posts ask in the quote request; some makers sell other shapes.
