A bollard cover is a plastic sleeve that slides over an existing steel post. It ends repainting, hides rust and makes the post easy to see. The only trick is ordering the right size.

## Sizes on the market

| Product | Fits | Heights | Top |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Dome-top covers (Bollard Canada, St-Hubert QC) | 4.5, 7, 8⅝, 10¾ and 12¾ in | 52, 60, 65 and 72 in | Dome |
| BollardGard (Innoplast) | 4 in (e.g. 4 × 40 in round top) | 40 in and others | Round |
| CrashCore covers (McCue) | Its 4 in crash-rated core | 40 in | 6.63 in stainless or 5.25 in plastic |

## How to measure

1. Measure the **outside diameter** of the post, not the pipe size. A “6 in” pipe bollard is usually about 6⅝ in outside (Reliance Foundry’s 6 in pipe bollard is 6⅝ in).
2. Measure the **height above grade**, then pick the cover height that covers it (a little taller is fine; the dome sits on top).
3. Count every post, including the ones you don’t think need it: a mixed row looks worse than an old one.

## Installing

Post Guard’s instructions: centre the two foam strips that come with the cover over the bollard and slide the cover down. No tools; a cover can be swapped in a minute when it’s scuffed.

## Questions

### Do bollard covers fit square posts?

Round covers need round posts. For square or very large posts ask in the quote request; some makers sell other shapes.
